How to Become a Referee
To become an AYSO Referee, please follow these steps:
 
Step 1
Complete, sign and submit an AYSO Volunteer Application Form every year.
 
If you are 14 years or older: complete the form online at www.eAYSO.org, print out two copies, and sign them and mail to:

If you are 10-13 years old, please download a youth volunteer application. Once completed, make two copies, sign them and mail them to the P.O. Box listed above.
 
If you have already filled out a volunteer form, are a certified referee & have your Safe Haven certification, your place your scheduling request now by call Dianne Holbrook at 801-698-1407.
 
Step 2:
Complete the online Safe Haven Child and Volunteer Protection Certification.
 
Go to www.ayso151.org, click on “Coaches Corner”, Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Safe Haven Online Certification” box. The process takes about 30 minutes to complete. Blocks of information are provided, followed by several test questions per screen. If you don’t have time to do the entire test, come back when you have time to complete it in one sitting. Step 3: Be properly trained in your job. Certification classes are held prior to each season. Please check the website calendar for the next available class date and RSVP to shazam@cheerful.com - OR - Email your desire to have a class formed to shazam@cheerful.com and you will be notified when a class is scheduled. If you would like more information on becoming an Intermediate Referee, Advanced Referee or National Referee. Please contact Dianne Holbrook at shazam@cheerful.com. Step 4: Schedule your games. When you RSVP for your training date, you can make schedule requests for the games and times you would like to Officiate/Referee or be an Assistant Referee. The season field assignments are listed on this website. You can check to see what is available at any time.
