We are excited about the upcoming Fall Soccer season!! We will start playing on Saturday, September 10 and plan on playing each Saturday through October 29, except for October 22 for UEA. Girls will play at 1:30 pm and Boys at 2:30 pm. All U5 games will be held on the fields behind H Guy Elementary in S Ogden at Friendship Park.

For these first time soccer players we plan to run this age group as an introductory group. All players will meet only on Saturdays and have a 15 minute session learning basic skills and rules of the game. Afterwards, all players present will be randomly divided into teams of approximately four each to play a game. (If you have had experience of a “Soccer Fest” this will be similar to that style.) Board members will be present to facilitate the session, but a parent or other designee is required to be there to help to give basic instruction during the game and practice session (out of bounds, help with throw-ins, which direction their team goes, etc).

The advantages to this U5 category are:

• More children able to play because of the extended age limits
• Opportunity to learn skills and rules at their age level
• Children are playing others with the same experience level
• Equal playing time
• Still receive uniform, participation medal and picture opportunity
